U.S Patent - D979458

After engineering, design, modeling, and rigorous testing/failure analysis, our design is unique and we aim to keep it that way.  The USPTO has accepted our design for patent. Any duplications are expressly not permitted.

EBIKE LAWS BY STATE

FAQ

Usage

This electric bike is intended to be driven on roadways, bike paths (where appropriate), and light off road use. Not intended to be used for rugged terrain, stunts, or extreme sports.

Why E-Bikes?

* E-bikes get 30 to 100 times more miles per pound of battery than an electric car.

* Battery efficiency is essential due to the resources used to make lithium batteries, which may be in short supply as more car manufacturers switch to electric.

* Most bikes cost less than a penny per mile to charge.

* E-bikes emit 40 to 140 times fewer pounds of greenhouse gas.

* Cycling has positive effects on health that other forms of exercise can’t match.

Build to Order

Info about custom build times

Custom Builds / Inventory

Our bikes are built by hand, by experts, in OKLAHOMA, so that each bike is given proper detail. We source parts from the USA as much as possible, and we employ local vendors for fabrication, water jetting (plates/mounts), paint, and assembly.  Our bikes are as much works of art as they are super fun, and safe, and we plan to keep it that way.  Because of this, please allow 1-4 weeks for all custom build bikes to be created and shipped . We often have inventory, that can ship out in 3 days.

Powder Coating vs Painting

Powder Coating is durable, chip resistant, environmentally friendly, and safer (no Volatile Organic Compounds), compared to traditional painting.  We powder coat our frames and control boxes, to guarantee a quality and durable bike.

Shipping

We ship (in the Continental USA) via UPS, with package insurance and required signature. International customers are responsible for import duties/taxes upon delivery. Please contact us if you need specific shipping requirements.

Bike History

We document every part we place on each bike, and track that meticulously in our data store, and then tie that to your purchase, so that you have a detailed history of your personal bike.  We do this for transparency, recall potential, NHTSA/DOT documentation, and general “this is what we would expect if we bought a bike” mentality. Customers gain access to this system upon purchase.

Steel vs Aluminum Bike Frames

Aluminum frames are more rigid than steel, resulting in a harsher ride.  A dent in the wrong place could render an aluminum frame dangerous to ride. When aluminum fails, it fails catastrophically.

For getting around over city streets steel provides a more forgiving ride. No frame material is more durable than steel. It can ding, scratch, dent, even bend, and retain structural integrity. When cared for, steel will last a lifetime. Our bikes are built with steel and powder coated for durability.

Steel vs Aluminum CO2 Emissons

1 Ton of steel produced = 2 tons of carbon emitted.

1 Ton of aluminum produced = 11.7 tons of carbon emitted.

Warranty, Returns, Cancelations

Bike and Product Warranty

Returns & Cancelations

We stand behind the quality of our products, and therefore, do not accept returns on used or opened items.

Canceled bike orders, items that are refused upon delivery and unopened items are subject to a 25% restocking fee along with all shipping costs.  Initial and return shipping costs will be deducted from the total refunded amount.  Proof of unopened items will need to be verified with photos and then submitted to customerservice@bisonsuperbikes.com

Parts

90 Days

All parts are covered from defect for 90 days.  All parts can easily be replaced with aftermarket or custom pieces as well if customer chooses to modify existing OEM parts.

Any issues with shipping or faulty parts, please access the customer portal and submit claims for quick response and remediation.

*Damage caused by stunt riding, off-roading, racing, or any other abusive treatment is not covered by this warranty.

Frame

24 months

We will repair any manufacture defects or failures for 24 months from purchase.

*Damage caused by stunt riding, off-roading, racing, or any other abusive treatment is not covered by this warranty.

Servicing

We believe in “Right to Repair”. Our bikes can be maintained fairly easy, as pegs/pedals, handlebar grips, battery, brakes, and wheels are all modular.  You can swap out those parts with many off the shelf products.  Any electronic modifications will void any/remaining warranty; additionally, we are not liable for any risks or danger/harm associated.  If you need advanced service, we can provide help.  Please contact us for more info.

Battery Info/Duration/Usability/Maintenance

Amps, Volts, Watts, What?

Battery Info and Lifespan

We use Lithium Ion batteries, which have a better recharge range than lead acid, or nickel batteries.  Lithium batteries can hold up to 1,000 charge cycles.

Range

Battery tests have proven range to go up to 25-50 miles on a charge, (depending  on model), though range is highly dependent on rider weight, frequency of start/stop, environmental factors (such as road type or wind speed, change in altitude).  All bikes  come with voltmeters built in. And all bikes do regeneration on power while walking or coasting. Does your bike do that?

Batteries

Most batteries for eBikes are rated by Volts and Amp Hours. Multiplying those two values will equate Wattage/hour. Our batteries, at 48V 12.5Ah, 48V 17Ah,  and 52V 15Ah, equates to ~680 watts, ~925 watts, and 870 watts. Because our bikes do  regeneration, mileage is increased through coasting.

Power Sharing - Bike-To-Bike

We have built into the bike the ability to share power to another bike. For instances where one rider is low on power and another has substantial, they can balance power between bikes.  This also allows for multi bike charging from one power source, where outlets are limited or in fleet instances.

Water Resistance

Our bikes are water resistant, not waterproof.  If users choose to ride in rain, or heavy rain conditions, fenders are highly recommended to prevent any saturation of electronic components.

Modular Functionality

The bike system is completely modular, so batteries and wheel hubs can be updated to more powerful or efficient versions as technology progresses.  Allowing the bike to continue well into the future.

Charging

Info about charging:

  • Always use the charger provided with your battery
  • Let your battery cool before charging, and do not use directly after charging.
  • Do not completely drain battery
  • If storing bike, charge the battery every few months.
  • Always disconnect the charger from the battery after charging.

Charge Times: @110V

  • 1 amp charger = ~24 minutes / mile charged
  • 2.5 amp charger = ~12 minutes / mile charged
  • 5 amp charger = ~6 minutes / mile charged

Storage

  • Please keep your battery in a cool and dry place (between 0 and 20 degrees C)
  • Avoid high temperatures and do not leave battery near a heat source

Cleaning

Never completely immerse the battery in water.  Wiping it off with a damp cloth will suffice.

Self Discharging

Energy stored in batteries gradually escapes over time.  This is called “self-discharging”. If a battery discharges completely and remains that way for extended periods of time, damage may occur to battery.

Not Responsible for Misuse of product or use outside intended scope

48V Battery Voltage Range

  • 48V battery’s BMS (Battery Management System) attempt to protect the battery from under voltage issues by cutting power draw at 40-39V.
  • Fully charged batteries read 54.5V.
  • Acceleration tests yield 0.3V-0.9V of battery reduction per mile.
  • Regeneration tests yield 0.1V/1,100ft of battery regeneration/recharge via coasting/pushing.
